Buzz Aldrin
Buzz Aldrin

Our hero is someone who is very brave. He is not even afraid of space. He has lots of jobs: professor, soldier, explorer and astronaut. He was a part of the first team to fly to the moon. Do you know who he is? He is---Buzz Aldrin! Buzz Aldrin is a professor, a solider, a teacher, an explorer. And he is also the first person who flew to the moon. We chose this hero because he inspired us and everyone! He inspired us to do new things and become brave.

Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. (born January 20, 1930) is an American astronaut, and the second person to walk on the Moon. He was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing in history. On July 21, 1969, he set foot on the Moon, following mission commander Neil Armstrong. He was also a retired United States Air Force pilot. On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 was launched by a Saturn 5 rocket for NASA. After being sent to space, the astronauts separated from the main spacecraft and traveled for three days until they entered into lunar orbit. Then, Armstrong and Aldrin moved into the Lunar Module and landed in the Sea of Tranquility on the Moon. They stayed a total of about 21 and a half hours on the moon. After lifting off from the moon , they returned to the earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24. In March 1972, Aldrin finished being an astronaut, and returned to the Air Force. He wrote two autobiographies, 'Return to Earth' and 'Magnificent Desolation'. In 1985, Aldrin invented a spacecraft named Aldrin cycler. (these information comes from Wikipedia. Shin Woo)

In fact, Buzz Aldrin also affected the world a lot! When he was working for NASA, he helped the people discover new space skills needed to be an astronaut, so those people will know more information and improve their progress for space study. One of his activities was called '' NEUTRALLY BUOYANT UNDERWATER TRAINING''. This means astronauts practiced being in space underwater. Buzz also had thought for a good plan about going to Mars. He laid out an ambitious plan of setting up a human colony on Mars within the next two decades. Most people agreed with this plan, but some of them still thought that will not work at all.

We should celebrate Buzz Aldrin because he explored new space, donated his ideas to companies, and he is very brave. Buzz was not afraid to do his mission in space. When he explored the moon, he helped to let the world know about it. If he didn't go to the Moon, the people now would not know about the moon. He is a risk-taker and very brave. Space is very dangerous, because it doesn't have air. He took a risk and went anyways. Buzz also invented many things and gave his ideas to NASA so they can help other astronauts. He helped them discover new skills about being an astronaut. Buzz showed that he was very creative.

In conclusion, we could take Buzz Aldrin as our role model. He made human beings' dream to the moon come true. He made a significant footprint in human history. He wasn't afraid of space because he was brave. We should be like Buzz Aldrin. Be brave. Challenge the world, and tell others it's good to try new things!
