Hello! This is Ter telling you about story of Dr. Ben Solomon Carson. If you are wondering why I choose him as my hero, you will hear in my story - if not, you will hear at the end.

Ben Carson’s mother Sonya Carson, 1 of 24 children, married when 13. After she had a son named Curtis, she had a son named Ben born September 18, 1951. When Curtis was 10 and Ben was 8 their parents divorced. With only a 3rd grade education, she struggled to raise her children. Once she saw that her children didn’t care about their education, she started limiting their TV to 3 channels a week and they read two books and handed in reports to her.

When in college, Ben married a woman named Candy and had 2 children. He got a job at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He had many surgeries with success and came face to face with his biggest challenge yet. He flew to Ulm West Germany to talk to the Rausch twin’s parents. Mrs. Rausch said she almost committed suicide when she heard that they were conjoined twins. When he figured out how to save them he practiced and practiced. When the surgery came it took 22 hrs and was a success. His latest travel was to South Africa to work on the Benga twins.

Ben Carson has won many awards and other things like was named Director of pediatric neurosurgery. Now he is 52 and writes books like "Think Big," "Gifted Hands" and more.

I like him because he is one of the best neurosurgeons in the world. He went to Yale University. That is one of the best Universities ever. He got his masters and bachelors degree. That is why I chose him.

That is my story
