Barack Obama

by Devante from Glenbrook

“Money is not the only answer, but it can help.” -Obama

I could have chosen from various heroes but I choose Barack Obama because he has made the biggest change in my life. Barack is a candidate for the 2008 presidential election. Before this he was the state senator Of Illinois (1996-2004). Barack is well known in politics. He is very well liked and considered as a people person. He is also one of the few African-Americans that are in a political position.

Barack was born on August 4, 1961. He was born in Hawaii and moved to Indonesia because of his parents divorce. His father was Kenyan and he had an American mother. He moved back to The United States to finish high school in Hawaii. From there he went to Occidental College, but then transferred to Columbia University where he majored in political science and international relations. After college, Obama became involved in his community relief programs. He helped clean up old abandoned neighborhood. At this time he lived in Chicago. Soon he realized that he would need to do more than clean abandoned neighborhoods so he could give back, so he went to Harvard Law School. He completed his J.D. degree as Magna Cum Laude in 1991. He was the First “AA” Harvard Law Review President in 104 years. He did all this to achieve the roll of being the Senator of Illinois.

Today, Barack is the 2008 presidential candidate who is facing Hilary Clinton for the democratic nomination. He is happily married to his loving wife Michelle. He has two daughters, Malia Ann and Natasha. Barack has accomplished many things but the most important thing of his journey was his family. That’s why he’s my hero.
