Bill WIlson

by Adarsh from San Diego

Bill Wilson is not known by most people but, he helped many people get through tough times in their lives. There are many people that believe that Bill Wilson was a good man and a deserving hero for all the people helped. Wilson was raised by a single parent, which lead to some childhood problems. As he grew up he decided to join the army. During a party with friends Wilson took his first drink, but it didn't stop there he got addicted. Later on when he kept on drinking and drinking he started to develop problems, he couldn't keep good relationships with others or do things he liked. Until he realized it wasn't too late to quit. As he quit drinking he created an organization to help others get through tough times in their lives. With nonstop hard work, care and bravery he kept on expanding his organization to help thousands and thousands of people.

Wilson worked hard and with care, but not only that but with bravery. Wilson is brave for working with a bunch of alcoholics because no one would want to help a bunch of drunks. He worked with many people, particularly dangerous alcoholics. "Wilson devoted himself partly to writing, as the organization he created grew into a ubiquitous feature of American life (and eventually became worldwide in scope, although it has been strongest in North America)." ("Bill W.") Wilson didn't complain with working with these kinds of people, this is shows that he is very courageous and brave. Many people were surprised that he helped these types of people. "Smith himself quit drinking on June 10, 1935, and the two would recognize that day as the birthdate of Alcoholics Anonymous." ("Bill W.") This also shows that he is brave for running a big organization just to help people. Wilson is delegate and content with working with the people around him. Wilson puts time and care into working and helping people that need guidance, but not only that he is extremely brave.

Wilson worked hard to help those who had common problems, and not only that he was an alcoholic himself but changed through hard work. Wilson started off as an addict to alcohol but died a savior for alcoholics. It isn't easy for addict to quit, but Wilson persevered and through hard work he quit. "At a party there, Wilson accepted his first drink, widely reported as a Bronx cocktail. In Vermont he had met Lois Burnham, a member of an old New York family, while she was on vacation, and the two married in 1918." ("Bill W.") This was Wilson's first drink even though he only had it once he wanted more, he didn't stop here. Later on he kept on drinking more and more until he had addiction problems. When people heard that this man was going to lead a organization to help alcoholics the thought he was crazy. "Through the tireless efforts of the two men, others joined them and the small group of sober alcoholics grew person by person, group by group." ("Bill's Story.") Wilson worked hard and very diligently to enlarge and expand his organization. This also shows that he didn't give even though how hard it was to quit. Wilson's dedication and time that he put in his organization was a lot but it was all worth it for Bill Wilson because he helped the society.

Bill Wilson is a very caring man for working and helping others, not many people would like to do that. Wilson helped many people overcome and get rid of their alcoholic addictions and helped society be a little cleaner. If most people had a chance to help people they would take the chance. "As Wilson and Smith began to meet with other alcoholics, they came to believe that it was important to leave their social backgrounds behind and assume a temporary anonymity." ("Bill W.") This shows that he helped a bunch of people with their problems by using different strategies. Even though Wilson doesn't know anyone he helps and he doesn't gain much he still does it for the people. People were really impressed that an alcoholic himself could help other alcoholics. "Cheever is at her best in detailing the creation of AA, in 1935, by Dr. Bob Smith and Wilson, who recognized that alcoholism was a disease that could only be countered by a "Power greater than ourselves." (Bone, , Lucille M.) Wilson created his organization, and he cares about the people he works with. Also is a good husband and cares about his family not only his job. Wilson's care brought many people back on the right track to a good life.

Bill Wilson is a deserving people for everyone even if people have never heard of him. He inspired many people by working hard and never giving up on his organization. Also he was very brave and had care for the people he worked with. Bill Wilson is an inspiration because he didn't just randomly create his organization or help others; he worked really hard for it. "To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world." quoted by Bill Wilson. This shows that the people that Wilson helped, he was an inspiration to them and actually cared for them. It also means that you may think that your nothing but people need you more than anything. Wilson also states, "Most of us feel we need look no further for Utopia. We have it with us right here and now." Bill Wilson shows that we are trying to look for happiness or somewhere to go but we have known it for a long time. Wilson was not always the man we know he is, he grew up with one parent and may problems. Even though Wilson was an alcoholic he worked hard to stop his addictions and be a very inspirational person for others.
