Blackie the Horse was born in Kansas in 1926. He got sold to rodeo man and got brought to California. He told Blackie just had to stand still while the cowboy roped the bulls. Then he got sold to the army. He patrolled Yosemite and people took pictures of him. Then he was sold again to an oysterman from Tiburon and he stayed there for 28 years until he died.

I think Blackie should be a hero because he stood his ground. He saved his pasture from becoming a shopping mall. People liked seeing Blackie standing on his pasture by the bay. People visited him, fed him carrots, apples, and sugar cubes. They also enjoyed the land and the view, and they didn't want a mall. That is why I think Blackie should be a hero.
