Many of you have probably never heard of Corrie Ten-Boom. She lived around the time of World War 2 and the Holocaust. Like many brave families they hid Jews. Unfortunately they were discovered. Corrie and her sister were arrested and were taken to concentration camps where they suffered many hardships. Through all this Corrie remained selfless and brave. She also had a very positive outlook of the situation she was in.

The Ten-Booms were generous and giving people. Their family consisted of 6 people: Cor & Casper, the parents, then Willem, Nollie, Betsie and Corrie. The Ten-Booms were in the watch making business and Corrie became the first female licensed watch maker in Holland. Many years later Nollie and Willem were each married and the holocaust started. Corrie and her family joined the underground to help hide Jews.

In the Ten-Boom house they created a secret annex. It was a secret room hidden behind a bookcase. Unfortunately they were soon discovered. Corrie and Betsie were beaten but they never gave up the location of the Jews. They were taking to a jail cell and separated. Corrie's father died 9 days after the arrest. Everyone else was set free except Corrie and Betsie. They were sent to Vught concentration camp.

In this camp they worked 12 hours a day. At this time Corrie and Betsie were in their 40's and this work took a huge toll on their bodies. Through this hardship they still had a positive outlook on their lives. For example, there were many fleas in the bunks but they had a way to be thankful, because of the fleas the guards never came in for inspection which meant that they were free to read their bible (their only possession. The Ten-Booms were very religious people). They were also sent to Ravensbruck where, sadly, Betsie passed away.

One day something miraculous happened Corrie was set free (by accident). A week after her release all the woman her age were shot. She returned to Holland where she lived with her friends and family. Corrie is a hero to me because after her release she went on preaching to people and telling them of her times in Ravensbruck. Corrie traveled to over 60 different countries with her story. She is a brave and selfless woman and a great person to look up to. Many movies and stories were wrote about her. I advise you to read them.
