James Cook was born the 27th of October 1728, and died in 1779. He lived until he was 51 years old.

Cook was killed by the natives of Owyhee in the Pacific Ocean. On the day of his 51st birthday, the 14th of Febuary, 1768 he was assigned by the Royal Geographic Secretary to command the ship named the Endeavour.

He started to sail around the world. After a long while, he came across unknown land (Australia).There he continued his scientific research.

James Cook was a hero because he had courage to sail around the world on the Endeavour, through storms and rain, to find Australia.
