Anne Frank vs. J.K Rowling

by Elton from San Mateo

"Still," she writes, "What does that matter? I want to write, but more than that, I want to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in my heart." (Diary of Anne Frank, pg.2)

Have you ever dealt with a life-altering event? In the world a lot of people have had life-altering events. In the book, Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank deals with the fact that she has to live through the Holocaust, in comparison J.K Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, deals with a life-altering event just like Anne Frank. Many people think it is fun to be famous, but for J.K Rowling she still has to deal with many disasters, like the obstacles she has to go through to write her books for her fans. Around the world, people have gone through events that change their lives.

Firstly, Anne Frank overcame many obstacles in her years in hiding. For example, she had to learn to live with complete strangers. She also had to deal with being stripped of her privileges of socializing with the community. She starts getting feelings for Peter because of the change from girl to women. After a while, she gets caught and has to start to deal with life in a concentration camp, away from her family. Soon later she died.

Secondly, J.K Rowling went through many hard times. One time when she found out that her mother had died, she was really upset. She was so upset it was like when you see a dead bird on the street. "Death is just life's next big adventure." Before she became famous, she was very poor and almost did not have enough money to support her daughter. Now, she is a famous author. While many might think her life has gotten much better, she still isn't satisfied completely due to the fact that she has to satisfy her fans and deal with people who think that she doesn't deserve to be famous and hates her books.

Lastly, both Anne Frank and J.K Rowling had to deal with many obstacles during their life-altering events. For example, Anne Frank had to deal with the Nazis, while J.K Rowling has to deal with both people who do not like her and fans. Both of them both had to start a new life and different changes in their lives. For Anne Frank, she had to deal with the fact that she's becoming a woman instead of staying a girl. She starts to develop feelings toward boys, in this case, Peter. However, J.K Rowling had a different life changing situation. She has to deal with becoming famous and the stuff that affects her like when the fans want a new book, she has to hurry up.

In conclusion, people around the world had to deal with life-altering events. These life altering events create many hardships around the world. I can relate to them. I was told I had to to go to China and live there for a year before I could come back to America. I had to live a whole new life, just like Anne Frank and J.K Rowling.
