Anne Frank

I chose Anne Frank because her diary touched thousands of people throughout the world. She stayed alive and hid for two years during the time when Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were taking all the Jews away.

Anne Frank was born on June 12,1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. She had German nationality but her family was Jewish. She hid with her family, the van Pels family, and also the Fritz Pfeffer, in the "Secret Annex" of rooms above her father's office in Amsterdam. Her life was sad because she was in two situations of life or death. After being betrayed to the Nazis, Anne, her family, and the others living with them, were arrested and departed to Nazi concentration camps. She spent nine months in the concentration camps,then she died of typhus at Bergen Belsen in March 1945. She was only fifteen years old. The only survivor was Otto Frank, his father. He with Miep and Jan Gies published the Diary in 1947, the diary has been translated into 67 languages and is one of the most read books in the world.

I also admire her because she was very persistent to be quiet while hiding and to do very well with her school work at the kindergarten of the Montessori School.
