Mehmet Akif Ersoy

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who is a famous Turkish poet, is my hero. He was born in Fatih, in İstanbul in 1873. His father, Mehmet Tahir, was a teacher in a religious school. His mother’s name is Emine Şerife.

He carried through his education at the Fatih Merkez Rüştiyesi. He wanted to start his professional career soon. He went to The Mülkiye Baytar Mektebi. (Veterinary School). He graduated in 1893.

While Ottoman Empire was destroying, he was a fervent patriot. He gave a lot important help to the Turkish Republic.

He is also an author. Safahat is his best known book which has includes poems. His most famous fiction is İstiklal Marşı (The March of Independence) which was accepted by a lot of Turkish people as their National Poem. Mehmet Akif Ersoy is an important character in modern Turkey history. He died in 1936. His grave is in the cemetery of Edirnekapı in İstanbul.

In conclusion, he is my hero because he has an important place of Turkish history. I admire him.
