Ty Pennington is on a show called Extreme Makeover Home Edition. On that show, Ty and his design team travel around the country looking for homes in need. In order to identify participants, people send in videos of their house and the whole crew decides while they are traveling on their bus. The team and Ty soon travel to the house and fix it. Ty Pennington was born on October 19, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The qualities that I look for in a hero are someone who is respectful, caring, kind, strong, and who is willing to do something for somebody and ask for nothing in return. I think Ty Pennington has all of those qualities; especially the last quality. The last quality is to do something for somebody and ask for nothing in return. Extreme Makeover is all about that quality.

Extreme Makeover is a good show and a fun one. The show sometimes brings in hundreds of people to help. Most people think it’s just a show about building, but it’s not! Extreme Makeover helps so many people, and while you're watching it you could laugh pretty hard too. Every person on the show has a sense of humor.

My favorite episode was when this young dad was in the army and one of the soldiers that he was friends with went down. The dad went and tried to comfort the soldier and then all the sudden “BOOM!” A bomb went off and the dad lost one of his legs. He also lost hearing in one of his ears. The dad was walking around in his tiny house on crutches because his artificial leg didn’t fit him right. They then sent a video into Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Ty and his crew came to their house and saw how the dad was living. Extreme Makeover then told the family that they were going to a hotel and spa resort in Ohio. About one or two days into the family’s trip, the family watched Extreme Makeover do demolition. Demolition is one of the best moments on the show. It’s when the show demolishes the house to pieces! It’s pretty cool. After they watched the video of demolition, the mother and two daughters went to a spa. The dad then went to one of the top doctors in the United States to get a fitted artificial leg. While the family was at the luxury resort, Extreme Makeover was rebuilding their house. Let me remind you that they only had a week to build the house. Then after all the craziness, the family came home and got to experience one of the best times of their lives.
