William Shakespeare is a hero who has written many inspirational poems and famous plays which are still being read and performed today. William Shakespeare is the world’s best-known dramatist and writer. One of his most known plays is Romeo and Juliet. There is no simple explanation for his popularity but he has brought joy to many. William Shakespeare is a literary legend.

Approximately 400 years ago William Shakespeare wrote and acted in plays that captivated people of the theatres in the 16th and 17th centuries. William Shakespeare grew up in Stratford-on-Avon during the government of Queen Elizabeth the 1st. Shakespeare would create and act out plays for the queen. This started when he was 11 and the queen came not far from Stratford. William Shakespeare married when he was 18. Not many years later did William leave his wife and three young kids in Stratford, and set his way to the capital of England, London.

William Shakespeare once quoted “if music be the love, play on, give me excess of it; that surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die.” (Orsino, 2009) William would go to the Elizabeth’s court singing and acting for his own plays with a big cast, different according to play. Shakespeare’s acting at court brought the players valuable approval and fame.

Romeo and Juliet is a, still, popular romantic tale about two lovers that cannot be together, the two secretly wed and Romeo kills a Montague for which he will now be executed, and Juliet is told to marry another by her mother and father. She fakes being dead, and lies at her tomb. Romeo then thinks she’s really dead, so he drinks poison and falls beside her. Romeo and Juliet was written around 1593 and first performed between 1594 and 1595.

William Shakespeare has so many inspirational poems and plays. I hope after reading this essay you think too, that he is a literary legend. After writing so many plays, they are still being performed today, with great acting and applaud. After researching about William I will be testing myself to write as good as him. Maybe one day I or somebody in the world could write plays as good as Romeo and Juliet.
