Our gallery features art in the theme of heroism. All artworks in our commercial free, age-appropriate Gallery are contributed by professional and student artists as well as curated from art institutions around the world.

MY HERO Project seeks unique works of art by professional and student artists that celebrate the lives and courageous acts of heroes who work to promote change by positively affecting others and their communities. Completed artwork should reflect thoughtful ideas to show how the selected hero demonstrates heroic action and creates positive social change.

Celebrate Eco-Heroism

CELEBRATE ECO-HEROISM (PDF)
Launched in 2012 at the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club, “Celebrate Eco-Heroism” was a 12-week afterschool pilot program. Elementary students developed media literacy and environmental awareness watching award-winning films, learning digital filmmaking techniques, interviewing local environmental stewards, and creating artworks that celebrated eco-heroism. The curriculum for this model program is available online, and can be modified for use in the classroom or after-school programs.

With support from a grant from the Puffin Foundation and The Massen Greene Foundation, MY HERO created a DVD and companion guide to provide inspiring short films about environmental heroes, which are resources to launch an eco-heroism program in schools and after school programs. The DVDs were distributed to teachers at the PEN Conference, the iEARN International Conference in Qatar and Argentina. They are freely available upon request.
