Election Day

Painting
The time has finally arrived when the people are allowed to cast their votes.
In Sierra Leone, the Secret Ballot System is practiced. Voters take turns walking to a table in the corner of the polling station for privacy. Ink is placed on voters' left thumbs after they have selected their party choice.
Normally, when voting takes place, all campaigning stops in order to avoid violence among supporters of the different parties. The result is a calm atmosphere in a peaceful environment.
The polling stations are spread in different areas throughout the country. International observers and reporters from all over the world will be on site to give advice or observe and send reports to their various news stations.
Our last voting experience in Sierra Leone was very peaceful and was among on eof the world's most peaceful and genuine elections. It was broadcast over national television and also on radio. Since some people expected violence and unfair elections after the Rebel War, the peaceful election was a surprise and a fascinating story to share.
