Celebrate the best of humanity.

Who is your hero? A teacher? A parent? A student? We would like to help you share your hero story with the world.

Thanks to a grant from the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, The MY HERO Project is looking for five student reporters to work with award-winning filmmakers to create video stories about their heroes. The finished stories will be used in the MY HERO Report, a video anthology that will feature the hero stories and chronicle the progress of the young filmmakers at work, interviewing and interacting with their heroes.

The student reporters will be chosen from diverse geographic regions of the US with the intention of sharing information and discovering new ways in which average people can become heroes in their own neighborhoods.

..
We need five talented Student Reporters with a love of reporting, interviewing and telling investigative stories.

To enter your hero story, use the MY HERO Create Program to create a short essay about your hero.

Let us know how your hero has inspired you or changed your life. Describe your hero in action and be sure to include ideas that will help young people take a more active role in their schools and communities. In addition, you may submit a short film or work of original art as an optional supplement. Judges are looking for powerful first person stories that will inspire young people to get involved.

The deadline for submitting work is June 21, 2010.

MY HERO will announce the names of the new student reporters in June 2010. The reporters will join the MY HERO team and create their hero stories during the summer. The MY HERO Report will be distributed to schools, civic organizations and news outlets and will be streamed on the MY HERO web site. Student reporters will be invited to submit their work to the MY HERO Short Film Festival.

Get started today! Share your unique vision with the world. Tell your hero tale and inspire others to be the best they can be.
