Why is Clara Barton My Hero?
A hero is someone you admire, can learn from, has qualities you would like to have and someone who makes a difference in the lives of others. My hero is Clara Barton. I chose Clara Barton because she made a difference in the lives of others and she was perseverant, brave and selfless.

A hero is someone you admire, can learn from, has qualities you would like to have and someone who makes a difference in the lives of others. My hero is Clara Barton. I chose Clara Barton because she made a difference in the lives of others and she was perseverant, brave and selfless.

Selflessness
When she was a kid she helped animals and her injured brother. As she was growing up Clara taught poor kids even if they couldn’t pay her. Clara ended up having 600 kids. Finally, she helped soldiers on the battlefield.

Bravery
Clara Barton showed us bravery when she put her life on the line to help soldiers on the battlefield. She comforted the soldiers, bought and prepared food for them, and searched for missing soldiers. She almost lost her life, but she continued to serve. In the years following the Civil War she was able to reunite thousands of soldiers and their families.

Persistence
Clara Barton was in Europe helping soldiers and she saw the International Red Cross. They help people in need and she thought our country should have it. So when she got back she tried to convince people but they did not do it. She spent 8 years campaigning and making speeches about it and eventually the American Red Cross was started. The Red Cross still exists today because of Clara Barton’s persistence.

The life of Clara Barton can teach us how to follow our goals and make a difference in the lives of others!
