Terry Fox was born on July 28th, 1958. Terry had one older brother named Fred and one yonger brother named Darrell and one younger sister named Judith. He loved playing all different sports. He played rugby, basketball and baseball and loved to watch t.v and watched lots of movies. Terry Fox went to Simon Fraser University. He was also a great student. He was not the best at sports but he was on all the sports teams. Terry worked very hard to be on the sports teams. He also loved spending time with his family.

Terry Fox had a lot of challenges. Some of his challenges were overcoming cancer, knowing that he was getting his leg removed and getting an artificial leg. Terry made a challenge for himself to run across Canada. Terry Fox's heroes were Darrell Sittler, Bobby Orr and other cancer patients. His inspiration was Dick Traum because he ran in the New York City Marathon on one leg. This inspired Terry Fox to run the Marathon of Hope across Canada.

Terry Fox started to run the Marathon of Hope at the age of 19 in Newfoundland, Ontario. He'd run for 149 days and many, many miles when he made Thunder Bay Ontario. Unfortunately, he got cancer in his lungs so he stopped to get checked out in the Thunder Bay hospital. The cancer in his lungs got so bad he died at the age of 22.

Terry Fox made our world a much better place because he ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Many people run in the Terry Fox run every year, and there has been over 400 million dollars raised for cancer research.

Terry ran the Marathon of Hope. He inspired a lot of kids all over the world. Now every year in September kids and parents all over the world run for cancer, in the memory of Terry Fox.
