A hero is someone who inspires you and makes you want to become a better person. My hero is someone I don’t know personally but she is an important person to our country. She is the first lady of the United States, Laura Bush.

Laura Bush is the wife of the President of the United States. She was born on November 4, 1946 in Midland, Texas. Laura Bush lives in Washington D.C. in the White House with her husband George W. Bush. Her Parents are Harold Welch and Jenna Welch. The college she attended was Southern Methodist University. After she graduated from college, her first job was to be school teacher. Then later she decided to become a librarian. Laura dated her husband George for three months and then they decided to get married. Laura and George Bush have daughters named Jenna and Barbara.

One of Mrs. Bush's goals is to help create more opportunities for men and women to enter the teaching profession. From recent college graduates, to mid-level professionals, to retired military personnel, Mrs. Bush is encouraging citizens to bring their talents and experience to classrooms across our nation, especially to disadvantaged public schools in urban and rural communities, where the need is greatest.

Laura Bush is a great role-model for kids around the world. She inspires me because she helps with causes like; Campaigns for Reading, Breast Cancer Awareness, and helps women to become aware of the serious effects of heart disease. She also helps her husband make important decisions for our country. She has a passion for helping children reach their fullest potential in reading.

Laura Bush is a great woman who has perseverance, peace, kindness, and faithfulness and is a great role-model for kids and adults around the globe. She has made a difference in the United States of America and that is why I chose her to be my Hero.
