Lucille Ball: A Hero in Disguise

Most of the time when you think of heroes, actresses aren't usually the first ones to pop up in your mind, however, this woman is an exception to this common misconception. Lucille Ball is a global figure recognized all around the world. She is of remarkable stature and talent. She touched so many people's lives just by doing what she loved the most: making people laugh. Comedians are not usually associated with the word "hero," but in this case, it is exactly what she was.

I admire her for her determination and perseverence. The road to stardom is by far not an easy one, and few really do make it big. Lucy started with a dream and continued to believe in herself and that dream until she reached the top. She is one of the most recognized people in the entire world. I really wish that I could've known her personally. Although I didn't, she still touched my life and the life of others in so many ways.

Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown, New York. At the age of 3, Lucy's father died. When she was just 15, she began taking trips to New York City to pursue a career in show business. At 19, she decided to move to New York City, because she felt that if she worked hard, she could make it big. She did not have success at acting, at first. However, Lucy did get a big gig working as a model for several well known companies. Producers and directors in Hollywood began to take notice of her beauty, and Lucy moved to Hollywood to work for RKO productions and chase the dream she had always longed for. Lucy did not reach the peak of her success until the "I Love Lucy" show in 1951.

"I Love Lucy" was really what skyrocketed her into her title today, The Queen of Comedy. The "I Love Lucy" show aired for 6 seasons, and for 4 of those, the show was rated number 1. It is estimated that two-thirds of the United States tuned in to watch "I Love Lucy" when it aired. The show was so successful that she continued two sequel shows after "I Love Lucy" left the air. She is known for her friendliness, character, and beauty, but she will forever be remembered for being a comedianne, hardworker, and the star of "I Love Lucy."

Lucy was told by so many people that she would never make it to Hollywood. She would never be a successful and well-known actress, but she proved everyone wrong and became so much more. Lucy was not scared to do something rare and unusual. She was the first woman in history to physically appear pregnant on national television. By some critics, it was frowned upon and thought of as wrong. Lucy did not care what they thought and did what she believed.

Lucille Ball is my hero, because she worked hard and believed in herself to get to the top. She is an inspiration to women all over the world. Women can read the story of her life and recieve the ability to believe that they, too, can do anything as long as they set their mind to it. She is perhaps the most famous comedian of all time, among women and men. She did so much for this world and its future generations. She showed us that women can do anything and that dreams really do come true.
