Heroes are north, south, east, and west. Heroes are still doing what they did in the 19th century. Some heroes’ words still live on even after they have passed away. My hero is still alive and his word lives on. His initials are M.J. Not Michael Jordan, but Magic Johnson. He is my hero because he is an H.I.V survivor. His message is “perseverance.”

Magic Johnson is not just a good basketball player. He is all that and much more. He is also an H.I.V survivor. H.I.V is a type of disease that attacks the immune system that keeps you healthy. After he recovered, he spent all his playing money to build a foundation for other people with his disease.

Magic Johnson’s real name is Ervin Johnson Jr. Magic Johnson had good times and bad times. I’m just going to tell you his success. He fought his disease. He was drafted to the L.A Lakers in 1979. He won the. M.V.P award 10 times, was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame. He was voted one of the 50 greatest players in the N.B.A.

There are many heroes in the world, doing great things. But Ervin Johnson Jr. sticks out in my mind not just as a great basketball player, but as an H.I.V survivor. Perseverance, pass it on.
