WildAid is no ordinary environmental organization. This international group, founded by Dr. Suwanna Gauntlett, Steve Galster and Steve Trent, is concerned with the destruction of our global environment. Gauntlett, Galster and Trent are no strangers to the use of harsh methods in order to ensure the protection of wildlife. In their efforts to protect animals such as tigers, elephants, and sharks, WildAid members have enacted anti-poaching programs in countries where these species are under threat.

Ranger training programs, which teach national and local military and police officials effective methods to monitor and enforce hunting bans on endangered species have had a great success in providing a permanent, trained force to combat the killing of widlife. But that is just one element in this group's efforts to save endangered animals around the world.

Rangers are equipped with high tech weaponry and taught military tactics to fight illegal poaching. In today's cutthroat poaching trade the friendly and safe job of the park ranger is a mere fantasy in many countries. Routinely barraged by the gunfire of angry poachers, these rangers must be prepared for war; a war for our environment in which their lives are every day put at risk. WildAid's leaders make it their job to ensure that rangers do not go into such a fight without the proper training and tools they will need to succeed in their battle for nature.

The goals of WildAid encompass three fronts: the protection of wildlife, the fight against wildllife crime, and campaigns intended to reduce consumer demand for wildlife products. Operating in conjunction with government and non-governmental organizations, the dedicated workers of this organization have truly put the "fight" into the fight for the preservation of wildlife.

The fight against wildlife crime has brought WildAid workers face to face with danger as their forces patrol government protected parks and reserves, capture poachers, and raid locals where capture wildlife is kept hidden by illegal entrepeneurs. And on the public relations front, WildAid sponsors many campaigns intended to inform the public of the consequences of purchasing wildlife products. Thanks to their constant efforts and dedication WildAid offers a global solution to worldwide threats against animals. Recently, the president of Cambodia awarded Dr. Suwanna Gauntlett a gold medal for her fight against poaching, and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown has declared August 2nd "WildAid Day."
