Where can we find heroes?
Heroes can be found in daiy life like parents ,teachers, siblings,or friends. They can also be found in religious places like a priest or bishop from your church or community or someone political like a president or senator. Heroes are mostly brave .
Leah Johnson from cincinnati, ohio united states - 11/18/2009 at 7:09:06 AM.

A hero is someone who fights for justice. They need to be bave to fight for what is right. They help us live our lives right, they also inspire us to live.

Beatrice Newberry from Cincinnati, OH - 11/18/2009 at 6:30:02 AM.
You should choose the hero by thinking if they have done something important of rememberable
that is viewed to be someone that someone looks up to.
Olivia Milliron from Cincinnati , Ohio United States of America - 11/18/2009 at 6:29:49 AM.
We should embrace heroes that are kind and good and that help people that are in need. I don't think that we should embrace heroes that are sports stars because they don't do anything to help the world.
Heroes are people who help our world be a better place.
Heroes are everywhere! It doesn't have to be a famous person it can be a normal person.
Kate Garry from Cincinnati, Ohio United States of America - 11/18/2009 at 6:29:26 AM.
Today,I am anwsering the question that asks "What is a hero". A hero to me is someone who does things to help people in many diffrent ways. They also have to have a great deal of helpfulness in someway.
Harrison Jones from Cincinatti, Ohio U.S.A - 11/18/2009 at 6:26:32 AM.
I think we should choose a hero based on if they help other people, not only if they look like one.
the heroes we should embrace are the ones that do good deeds every day.
a hero is someone we can look up to.
we can find heroes everywhere,everyday.

How could you omit Pope John Paul II who was one of the most beloved men of the past century? Despite strong anti-Catholic sentiment that prevails through out the history of the US, he was admired and loved around the globe. His love for people was unsurpassed. His funeral was the largest gathering of human beings in recorded history. How or why did you leave him off of your list?
Nick from Casselberry, Florida United States - 5/5/2009 at 11:00:57 AM.
I beleive that this is very true as well as that many people pick there heroes under false pretenses. There is alot in a hero alot more than we realize.

I thought this article was very intresting and it was a very good explanation of what a persons true hero is......... =)
Lauren Chmura from Winter Springs, Florida United States - 5/5/2009 at 10:55:04 AM.
I think that our heroes should be the ones that have always been their for you, and one who loves you, and one that you look up to that loves you and you love them back.
Courtney from WinterSprings, Fl USA - 5/5/2009 at 10:54:58 AM.
I think that our heros should be something more then celebertiys. heros are leaders and those leaders help you find the real person in side ourself. celebritys can lead you down the wrong rode with thier drinking and partying all night long.
- 5/5/2009 at 10:52:05 AM.
I think that is true. Real heroes can be found in little places. They don't have to be multi million dollars worth to be a hero. Also they don't need fame. True heroes like to help people, be kind, and inspire. They shouldn't care if they get paid to do it.
Erlee from casselberry, Florida USA - 5/5/2009 at 10:52:02 AM.

I agree of what the top paragraphs said about heros.a hero should be someone who is respectful, responsible and lead good.
Christine from Ocoee, Florida USA - 5/5/2009 at 10:48:30 AM.
Now, im not a stupid person, but it seems to me that the first paragraph is saying that if you choose the wrong person to favor or idolise (family or otherwise) you can tear apart that family that you love so much. i think that is a whole lot of pressure for someone who wants a hero. Paragraph two is a bit more explanitory. it is saying, that is you wish to pick someone a bit famous ( Johnny Depp, Lindsey Lohan) make sure your picking someone that has values and dosnt visit the loony bin on a daily basis. paragraph three is saying when you choose a hero, make sure that they arn't greedy or money hungry. they have daily lives or work for a living, its not that they are a homeless person and have nothing to live for so to speak. but that they live for family and love instead of fame and fourtune. paragraph four is just summing up what was said basicaly. they are saying that someone who is willing to sacrifice something or give, or forgive and forget. idolise someone who matters to you, someone you wont forget when everyone else decides they arnt good enough anymore. someone you may love and cherish already to begin with.

I think it depends on your point of veiw. I mean your hero might be the Joker off of The Batman. It depends on what kind of person you are.

I agree with what the Greeks said about who you admire says a lot about yourself. When it comes to the statement about celebrities not being hero's I agree but I disagree at the same time. I agree because being a hero isn't about how much money you have or how you look. The reason I disagree is because some celebrities donate money to various disease research centers, homeless shelters, and many other charities. Many celebrities also act as a spokes person for these organizations. When I think of a hero I think of a single parent who works two jobs to feed their kids and would go hungry just so their child wouldn't have to, a soldier who is thousands of miles away from his family fighting and risking there life for your freedom. My personal definition of a hero is someone who commits selfless acts to do some good in their community, with no recognition.
Hugo from Ontario, CA - 12/3/2008 at 1:21:53 PM.
To me a hero is a person that you can look up to someone that you can trust. Also a hero to me is some one that will always be there for you to help you with your problems no matter what. People like to pick their heroes in some strange way like some times people choose heroes that they wish that they could be. They hate being themselves so they choose some one that they want to be.
Eduardo from Ontario, CA - 12/3/2008 at 1:20:53 PM.
To me a hero is a person who you can trust and who you can count on when you are in trouble. Many people have a different point of view of a real hero. Almost anyone can be someones hero it just depends on what you are willing to sacrifice for someone. A hero can be a movie star or just someone from your family. the only thing that matters is that the person is loyal and doesn't care if he has to sacrifice his life for you.
Tivy Sinclair from Ontario, CA USA - 12/3/2008 at 1:19:14 PM.
i agree with this ideal totally. Heroes is the best thing that ever happened to the world. The world need heroes especially inspirational ones. M.L.K. is a great example of a hero that the world needs. The world doesn't need another villain theirs enough already.
Robert from Ontario, California United States - 12/3/2008 at 1:15:13 PM.
A hero is important in someone's life because it offers someone to look up to and model their life on. It is a helpful tool to grow up with and inspires people to follow their dream. Without a hero you cannot be as inspired. A hero is like a role model you can follow and reflect your life on.
Garrick from Ontario, CA USA - 12/3/2008 at 1:14:55 PM.
I totally agree with this article. I think that a hero does stands for all of the things that this article say. Sand i agree that heroes keep the world in order. If there wasn't heroes in this world, then we would idolize villains as our heroes.
Spencer from ontario, CA USA - 12/3/2008 at 1:09:03 PM.
I think that this is a very good subject to talk about. Because people do need to know what a real hero is. A lot of people think that all these rich people are heroes but there not. I really do agree with this.they tell you what a real heroe.
JimmY from Ontario, CA USA - 12/3/2008 at 1:08:31 PM.
Good Job!
Christine from Ontario, California - 12/3/2008 at 12:58:38 PM.
I don't think that you are like your hero and that by looking at your hero one can determine who you are. That probably is someone you want to be like because of the popularity or fame but it is not who you are. I do agree that you should be a little carful on the hero that you choose to have for the reason that your hero may not be a good person and you follow in their footsteps. Your hero should be someone that can change your life in a positive way, not a negative way.
A hero does not always have to be a sports person or movie star, it could be someone close to you, it could be a family member like your brother/sister or anyone that is close to you, more common heros are found saving lives like a firefighter or a policeman. I agree that heroes can be found everywhere, it could be anyone, even your pets can be considered heroes in their own way, sometimes a hero is born form a difficult situation that they solved. It is important to have heroes and this article says it very clearly.
Benny from Ontario, Ca - 12/3/2008 at 12:52:41 PM.
I feel that the article was for the most part correct. Celebrities of concurrent times tend to be in the spotlight more often than not. They should, however, attempt to become good role models for their viewers and fans. Children nowadays rely more on celebrities and television characters to fulfill the role model role instead of story book heroes or their parents. True heroes of today exist in all corners of the world. Sadly most of these characters are obscure and unknown to most people.
Abel from Ontario, California San Bernardino - 12/3/2008 at 12:52:31 PM.
What i think about the article on "heroes" is that you have certainly stated your opinion which would defiantly bring a definition of some points. However, your biased opinion would somehow differ from mine. a hero does not just have to embrace the characteristics you states above;values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. those characteristics are traits of a protagonist hero, but not of a tragic hero, examples of a tragic hero would be Macbeth, who returned to a city full of glory, he was a war hero, but corruption had led to a different path of power, a dark one. so in conclusion, your ability to define a hero is almost impossible as their are different view on which a hero may take, and or the person reading and learning about them.
Best Regards

The definition of hero was very well stated within the article. I do believe that every person has a choice of who to embrace as a hero. The ones who are better influenced tend to give off a positive attitude to the world, yet unfortunately some people tend to feed of those who choose to do wrong.
This article does a good job at using the Nazi's as an example, most people became those evil people because they believed being a Nazi would be dominant when in reality those are now being frowned upon amongst the other bad people in this world such a white supremacist, the people within those types of crowd want to follow that negative energy that they give off.
I also agree when the article stated that "they embrace the eternal values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control." I know many people who live through life with a smile on their faces even if they're going through a whole lot of stuff, those are the type of people whom I look up to. They like to look at the glass half full rather half empty.
In other words.. I agree with this article ^__^

I hope to be able to see heroes names used in street name and on advertisement hoardings at bus stops an train stations. Children can learn about heroes to emulate while waiting for their transport. I have created a presentation to advise why we should do this and how.
genesta stuart from new providence, Bahamas - 10/22/2008 at 12:11:35 PM.
I think that we should be careful how we choose are heroes, because some of the people that we call heroes are not and sometimes it is the ordinary and every man (female or male)who are some of the greatest heroes we encounter.
Brian Pikelny from Skokie, Illinois USA - 10/19/2008 at 6:50:08 AM.
After living a well-lived, fascinating, and uniquely interesting life, Mrs. Yukiko (nee Kikuchi) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years on October 8, 2008. Mrs. Sugihara was the widow of the late Consul Chiune Sugihara, who was assigned to a Consulate in Kaunas, Lithuania, prior to the onset of WWII. During this assignment, despite the orders of his government, he was instrumental in saving thousands of Jews in their efforts to escape Hitler’s Holocaust by issuing life saving visas. With Mrs. Sugihara’s support and encouragement, the family (including three sons), chose to risk their lives and safety, declaring, “Although I chose to disobey my government, I could not disobey my God.”
Mrs. Yukiko Sugihara was born in 1913 in Numazu and grew up on Shikoku Island. She met and married Chiune Sugihara in 1935. Their first-born (1936) son, Hiroki, founded a Foundation in San Francisco dedicated to perpetuate the memory and legacy of his father in 1997, and which Mrs. Sugihara supported as Honorary Chair. Before Hiroki passed away in 2001, he became a familiar figure in Japan town where he lived, while in the USA, ironically staying sporadically, due to visa requirements.
Following a stroke, the last several years of Mrs. Yukiko Sugihara was spent in a nursing home near Fujisawa. She is survived by two remaining sons, Chiaki Sugihara of Fujisawa, Japan and Nobuki Sugihara who resides in Belgium. A private funeral service was held by Chiaki following her passing. Her ashes will be interned at Kamakura where she will be joined with her husband, Chiune, a son, Haruki who passed away in 1946, and with Hiroki. Formal services are planned by sons, Chiaki and Nobuki that is scheduled to be held on November 9, 2008 in Tokyo, (Aoyama District), Japan.
The passing of Mrs. Yukiko Sugihara signals the end of an era highlighted by tumultuous events such as WWII, the defeat of the Axis Forces, the aftermath of the war and reconstruction of Europe, the rapid rise of Japan as a powerful economic force, and followed by Japan’s decline due to the economic “bubble burst.” Her life encompassed all of these events, but most significantly, along with her husband, Chiune, for thousands of Jewish lives, they both became symbols of hope and life.

1) How should we choose our Heroes?
A person that you admire and you care about.
2)What kind of Heroes should we embrace? we find heroes in our friends but we actually dont see that cause we replace them with a bad influenced.
3)What is a Hero? A Hero is someone who cares about you and will not let power come on his way.
4)Where can we find Heroes? you find Heroes in your family, friends, and teachers that care about you.
Sean Murray from san diego , CA US - 6/26/2008 at 8:02:40 AM.
choosing heroes: it is a very important decision when you choose who your hero is, but maybe, it's not you who chooses your hero. i think that people choose heroes by a set of values, the basic foundation of who they are, something they can't change. you naturally choose someone like you, who is your definition of successful.they are not just heroes, but goals.
What kind of heroes should we embrace? we should embrace the old heroes. the great writers, scientists, and politicians of old. if more people started doing this, than it would be impossible to continue the kind of soceity we currently live in. but many people don't care, and are already to much like the celebrities they adore to change.
What is a hero? a hero is not always a person, but the idea of the person, the thing that holds them up, what they support, the higher cause they serve, that is truly what a hero is: a (wo)man with a purpose.
Where can we find heroes? we have several systems that highlight and glorify heroes, but there is no one to hold them up, for example, this site is great, but I wouldn't know about it if it weren't for my teacher.
