My hero is: The iEARN teachers.
I'd like to talk about some heroes of mine: iEARN teachers. I may not
know them all by name, but I know this much about them. iEARN teachers
want kids from around the world to exchange ideas. My biggest
experience with iEARN teachers was at the annual conference in Slovakia. Every
day I heard and saw teachers from every corner of the earth presenting
projects and ideas for young people to exchange. Before this year, I didn't
even know what an iEARN teacher was. Now I know a lot about them. For
example.
- They're always on the move.
We were in the courtyard of a school in Slovakia and suddenly music was
blaring and the Egyptian teachers and students were dancing in a big
circle. The energy was just so happy, it pulled me in. Nadine, Iman,
Ahmed and all the others whirling around in joy - I will remember that
happy feeling for the rest of my life.
- They like to laugh.
I remember Jeanne, my mom, my dad and I were roaming around the streets
of Kosice when we bumped into Gordon from Kenya and Tommie from Botswana.
They joined us for refreshments at a small outdoor café. We shared
stories and jokes and laughter. What a beautiful afternoon.
- They're like family.
I remember my dad and I went to the booth set up by the delegation from
Iran. We were instantly surrounded by smiles. The women of the
delegation, who had always been so kind to us, were like Aunties at
Thanksgiving holiday, offering us sweets and gifts and making us feel
welcome. Whenever I think of Iran I think of their welcoming faces and
generosity.
- They're like great big blue clouds.
The first time I ever saw Cheikh from Senegal, he was wearing
beautiful, flowing robes of royal blue. I couldn't see his feet so he seemed to
be floating above the ground, a friendly smile drifting by. I met many
people from many different cultures and countries and I always felt
happy being among them. The iEARN conference made me look at the world with
new eyes. I see now that it doesn't matter if you're from Taiwan or Egypt
or Russia, Japan, Sierra Leone, Spain or New York or anywhere else in the
world. Thanks to iEARN teachers, we're all a little bit closer.

My hero is: Andrew Benson Greene. I choose Andrew Benson Greene as my hero because of certain qualities or potential he has that makes me fee that he can be choosen as a hero locally and internationally.
He graduated from the university of sierra leone with english language and international relations. Andrew had also worked with international organisations such as war child canada, iearn USA, plan netherlands, taking it global, care sierra leone, slango sierra leone, DCI defence for children , international my hero, to name but few.
This young man has being working tirelsssly for the progress of youths in sierra leone, he has also presented several national and interantional work shops through the help of ICT sharing his experience with members around the globe talking about human rights, child soldiers, peace building, and many more in other to help in developing the world.
Andrew Greene is a man with verse more espercially in the area of helping youths develop their talents, he has done a great job in sierra leone, learning about computing cost a lot of money with the help of this young and dedicated hero we are enjoying this facility without any payment. As for me, I was walking in the wilderness with no guide but i thank God for sending me a savour, now i can assure that i can do so many things using ICT and developing skills in mucic, video media and many more. Really my hero has done a lot for the youhs of iEARN SIERRA LEONE .
For vivid example he is patriot of sierra leone by extending his life and time to contribute in rebuilding the lives of sierra leoneans youths through the use of ICT and other tools to regain their life with healing from their trauma.
African youth leaders after acquaring quality education they choose to go and find happyness in another mans land forgetting to save their native land, but Andrew Greene has broken this kind of idea.
Connecting youth making a difference in the world Andrew believes in ths idea and idologies. What he has done I personally believe that he has a bigger dream for the youths of Sierra Leone and the world at large.
my hope is to see this kind of person followers in other to build and make a better world for all it assundry or people.
Above all he is also being awarded a scorlarship resently for his edicated leader ship with other scorlers from various contries in Canada.
Andrew has done a lot and i strongly believe that, this is ust the beginning trust me.I say bravo to my honourable hero Andrew Benson Greenne.
keep it up.

My hero is: BAI BUREH. Bai Bureh is a hero not for only me, but for all Sierra Leoneans and Africans at large. When in colonial days Sierra Leone was under British colonization he fought for the freedom of the natives which he is part of. He fought the British colonial police until they were in trouble at last, for he was caught but he stood out strong with his local militia men. He was Themne by tribe.
And to remember him as a hero in Sierra Leone there is a song we sing about him. The songs goes... "Bai Bureh was a warrior, he fought against the British. The British made him surrender, he shouted 'Kortor mymu, oh Kortor mymu ah kortor mymu'."

My hero is: In the name of Allah . Dear iEARN,
We are in hard times so we need to give everything a second thought. We have to remember our morals and promise ourselves to behave properly and get rid of selfishness. We need to answer this question: What are the qualities of the good citizen? Answering this question will ease our temper and will give us a push forward to live in hard time.
I still believe that the greatness of a man can nearly always be measured by the willingness to be kind, to be kind for yourself, to your family, to your community, to your country, to your nation, to the whole world, to the universe……… Man does not live for himself alone. He lives for the good of others as well. Therefore, before learning how to make people admire us, we must analyze why we ourselves admire certain people more than others. Who is my hero? He is the good citizen. So let us answer the above mentioned question together. Here is mine. My heroes are who dedicate their soul to their duties and put their hearts into their work. Who believe that goodness rewards itself. Who have the innate goodness, even though mistakes and false opinion may often ruin the beauty of the goodness.
Dearest students and friends, We see only a little of the bloody awful mess due to we are the poor creatures. We are not the Almighty Creater. Let us cry to purify our souls and start building our peacefull world as real life has not started yet.
Wishing you all the best. Waiting to read yours as I believe that I read to feel I am not alone. We are alone together.

My hero is: Andrew Greene. Andrew Greene is iEARN sierra Leone volunter coordinator for the last four years, working relentlessly to bring the attention of the local and international community to the human rights violations of children in armed conflict through the www.childsoldiers.org tele-collaborative project. As a war affected child myself, enrolled in Andrew's informal school of ICT and English, and participant in iEARN activities, I have ben inspired by my leader's unwavering service to giving voices to youths affected by war who could otherwise have not been recognized.
Today, I can write to a friend in Ghana, or Morocco, or US telling him/her about what effects the war has on my life through the power of the internet.
I can now go back to school having paid my fees because of some support that the internet friends have brought me.
When I lost my father, and my mother abandoned me not out of her fault but fleeing for her life, I had no hopes of recovery, no hopes of food, health, education etc. Through association in iEARn that Andrew brought us, today their is hope.
Andrew could hire a bus for us when he can afford, take us to internet centres and pay out of his own pockets for us all to learn. When he can't afford for all of us war affected children, he walks with us for few miles to the city centre to get on the internet or learn computer skills.
He hunts for funding for our education, he lobbies with government, education Ministry to house the recycled computers that he has managed to get to Freetown, so that we will all gain and share in the experience.
He loves us, cares for those who do not have the means to go and pay the high prices at private computer schools...his dream is to open up a comunity access centre for we the war affected youths and help us acquire the skills to cope and in the computer job competitions. There are many things that I can say about my hero but these will suffice.
Emile.
