BUNG KARNO

The history of Indonesia has a lot of heroes. There are many kinds of National, Revolution and Reformation Heroes. One of the famous National Heroes is Ir. Soekarno. He was born on the sixth of June 1901 in Surabaya. Indonesian people always called him Bung Karno. Ir. Soekarno finished his education at ELS (Elementary School), HBS, and at THS (it is now called ITB).

His first wife was Fatmawati. She was the first Lady who sewed Indonesian flag for the first time. The colors of the flag were red and white. Red means bravery and white means holiness.

Ir. Soekarno was one of the politicians. He was one of the greatest leaders in the world, especially in Indonesia. He built some organizations in Indonesian country. They are PNI, which was built on the Fourth of July 1927, PUTERA, and so on. After doing many politics, he was also the first person who read the proclamation text on the seven teen of August 1945 in Jakarta.

After that the Dutch and the Japan came to Indonesia. They wanted to colonize Indonesian, but Indonesian people could defeat them so that Indonesia was free from colonialist.
