Barack Hussein Obama

by Brice from Arizona

What is a hero? A person with super powers, or a person that has done something great without the desire to be acknowledged? I think a hero is a person that does something large or small, to help the world or mankind. A hero can be any age, any race; anyone can be a hero. A person that fits this description is Barack Hussein Obama. Mr. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. He is now forty-five years old and is running for President of the United States of America for the 2008-2012 term. He is making a difference in the political world because if he wins the presidential election, he will be the first African-American president. Barack Obama has always been referred to as a brilliant person. He attended Hawaii’s top prep academy, Punahou School. From there, he went to Columbia University where he started getting interested in community activism. He graduated in 1983. After becoming familiar with law, he went to Chicago to help those who were living in poverty. He later became the senator of Illinois and was chosen for the U.S. senate in March of 2004. I really hope and pray that he becomes president because he would be something new and I think America can use something different in office; a person with fresh ideas. He is a hero to me because I have dreamed of being the first African-American president and it is encouraging to see a person with my same interest rise up and take charge of their dream. If someone ever tells me that my dream of becoming president is somewhat far-fetched I can turn to Barack Hussein Obama and say, "I believe I can do it and that’s all that matters".
