A Selection of Stories From MY HERO
Some of these stories were written by school children, some by professional writers.
All articulate with passion and eloquence, the ideals behind The My Hero Project.

Joneice saved her three younger siblings at the age of seven.     Studs Terkel celebrates stories of the common man.
Jose Marti was a key organizer of Cuba's battle for independence.     Wilma Rudolf was the first American woman to win 3 Olympic gold medals.

Emile Toby, a student from Sierra Leone, Africa,
wrote in the
MY HERO Guestbook:
My hero is Andrew Greene, the iEARN Sierra Leone volunteer coordinator. (He works) relentlessly to bring... attention (to) the local and international community...the human rights violations of children in armed conflict. As a war affected child myself and participant in iEARN activities, I have been inspired by my leader's unwavering service... giving voices to youths affected by war. When I lost my father, and my mother, I had no hopes of recovery, no hopes of food, health, education etc. Through the association with iEARN that Andrew brought us, today there is hope.

English teacher Susanne Nobles' students at Fredericksburg Academy in Virginia have contributed many inspirational stories to the MY HERO website including:

Dr. Edward Jenner the father of the modern vaccine. Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the grueling Alaskan race, the Iditarod. Fridtjof Nansen the Norwegian explorer honored with the 1922 Nobel Peace Prize.

Thanks to all who share their vision
on this online journal celebrating the best of humanity.
