The study of heroes applies across the curriculum in all grade levels. For example, it can be an integral part of character education or thematic units, a tool for reading comprehension and the development of writing skills. It can enrich content in math and the sciences. The interactivity of the MY HERO website expands the study of heroes with computer and media-literacy opportunities.

At its most basic level, the database of MY HERO stories offers a rich and varied reading experience, with stories appropriate for all levels. Navigating the categories of heroes and using the search engine develop basic Internet skills.

Visitors who add their individual hero stories to our site, either through the Guestbook or by using our simple "Create" program, can personalize the learning experience while developing media literacy, research and writing skills.

MY HERO offers basic lesson plans as a guideline to get you started. We appreciate your evaluation of these plans, and encourage you to submit related lesson plans for us to share with others.
