Introduction of MY HERO PROJECT
Since 1995, The MY HERO PROJECT has focused
an appreciative spotlight on heroes around
the globe. At www.myhero.com thousands of
children and adults alike each month read
about heroes from all walks of life and many,
with the user-friendly format provided, create
a web page honoring their own hero.
MY
HERO is a not-for-profit, educational website
www.myhero.com designed to enlighten and inspire
by celebrating heroes, present and past, who
have touched and enhanced the lives of others.
MY
HERO is a unique educational experience that
promotes literacy and cross-cultural communication.
As the Internet moves information across borders
and time zones, connects
people
in all parts of the world, MY HERO is there-a
source promoting that communication and a
feeling of commonality, understanding, and
peace.
MY
HERO is free to you the teacher and your students.
MY
HERO in the classroom is a resource for class
projects. Some of its materials are used in
primary grades. Some of its materials are
useful for college/university courses. Most
of its materials are appropriate for all those
levels in between. Its use is far reaching-from
specific research to general search, from
information on individuals in specific areas
(i.e., history, science, sports) or current
events-local or national, to global heroes
and children in other lands, to techniques
of using technology for a research tool, or
enhancing writing skills, or when you need
it, a "safe" web site your students
can surf.
MY
HERO'S Teachers' Room offers a host of stories
categorized by subject and age appropriateness.
Whether the focus is poetry, science, art
or literature, sports, discipline, personal
growth, responsibility.teachers find plenty
of heroes-they range from well known to previously
unknown.
