What do you think makes a hero? I think what really makes a hero is their courage and hope. I also think that whatever that hero does, they will be remembered forever and their name will be in the Internet, books, and on television. Their bravery will live on forever, as long as their memory is remembered.

My hero is Anne Frank. She was born in Frankfurt. Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, and sadly died in March of 1945 at the age of fifteen. They lived in the time of Holocaust, which was led by Adolf Hitler. The Holocaust took place during World War Two, when Hitler tried to eliminate Jews for no reason. Since Anne’s family was Jewish, her father and friends decided to hide in an attic but the Nazis (the anti-Jewish party) would have found them easily, so they put a bookshelf to cover the stairs which lead to the attic.

Anne had a diary (which was given to her on her thirteenth birthday) that she would write in everyday when her family and she were hiding from the Germans. She wrote in that diary for about two years until the Germans found them. On August 4, 1944 someone gave the German police a tip about where Anne’s family was hiding and they were captured. They were all sent to concentration camps and she and her sister died of Typhus in March of 1945. The only one who survived in the Frank family was Anne’s father, Otto Frank. Otto Frank found Anne’s diary and arranged for it to be published. It was published in English in 1952 and titled A Diary of a Young Girl. It was later translated in many other languages around the world. It was a big hit around the world. Anne’s diary has made a big impact on Americans because Anne was a very young writer.

Anne Frank is a hero to me because she inspired me to become a writer, and that’s my dream career. Anne’s accomplishments are that her diary got published, and that inspired me to publish my book so my memory can be remembered just like Anne. I really have changed because of this person by reading more books, and putting my thoughts and feelings in a journal. Anne’s diary had changed the way I looked at people and the world.

Anne has inspired more young people, and people like me and as long as her legacy lives so does her memory. That’s what makes a hero, their memories, and their legacy.
