Abraham Lincoln

by Samuel from Loveland

My hero, Abraham Lincoln, had shown honesty, dedication, and bravery in his life. From serving his country as a captain in the militia in the Black Hawk War, to serving his country as President, he was very honored man. Mr. Lincoln was born in February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. Mr. Lincoln led our country through the bloodiest war at the time.

Honesty is a special talent of Abraham. This wonderful man was so honest that he was able to stand up and talk about what he thought instead of agreeing with the crowd. When he was younger he was in Congress. He needed to be honest for that job. Joshua R. Giddings and Lincoln made a bill to abolish or stop slavery, but it failed. He had received money from the bank and was walking home. The distance is several miles from the store to his house. Almost home, he noticed that he had gotten too much change from the cashier. So with time he walked back to the cashier and gave him the extra change, then he walked back home.

Abraham, a man filled with dedication to the tip of his hat. He was dedicated to changing the world and he knew that he needed an education to be a good leader. So he educated himself with the help of his family. One of his main goals was to get rid of slavery. We all know that he did a good job to change slavery, but sadly he did not extinguish the slavery fire, he only doused it. Joshua R. Giddings and Lincoln made a bill to abolish or stop slavery but it failed because it did not get past the Whigs. After the Civil War he tried to find ways to reunite the country, such as the 13th Amendment. He also wanted to give every American nationalism, republicanism, equal rights, liberty, and democracy.

When he had grown to be very brave, he stood failure in the face several times in the race for the presidency. He served as Militia in the Black Hawk War. He also had large requirements of bravery in his job. His wife was always worried about him, she said he was working too hard. It takes bravery to push through plain old exhaustiveness.

Abraham had a just life, full of honesty, bravery, and dedication. He is considered to be the best president in history. On the best president line he is ranked first. So will you be a leader like Abe too?
