Do you know the definition of a hero? Well, before Abraham Lincoln was made President of the U.S.A., he was my definition a hero. As a young boy, little Abe had to learn how to fight for his life and for his country. So as Abraham grew, this is how he lived.
My hero is Abraham Lincoln. Abraham lived from 1809 to 1865 and lived in a log cabin in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln is my hero because he was one of the greatest presidents of the United States. As a young boy, Abraham was very poor and not wealthy. When Abraham was 7, he and his family moved to Indiana. Even in a new state, Abraham hardly attended any school. Then, in about 1830, Abraham’s family moved to Illinois. When Abraham moved to New Salem, Abe worked many jobs including postmaster and store work.
So as you can see, Abe had a very rough childhood, always moving and not getting much school work. Abraham also wrestled the town bully and he was given the nickname “Honest Abe”. Although many important things happened later in his life, I think that his childhood was what made him a hero.
I can relate Abraham to my summer reading in many ways. In one way, my hero Abe can be put in one of the categories of this book. Abe would be put in the category of survival hero because Abe had to survive as a young child from many dangerous obstacles which not very many people know about.

By no surprise, Abe had a rough life as a child and had to risk protecting himself and others around him. Abraham, even though a poor child, still managed to succeed in life and is my hero.
