Abraham Lincoln

My hero is Abraham Lincoln because he has all of the best qualities that you could wish a role model to have. He is honest, trustworthy and responsible, and I guess that’s why he was elected president. If there is such thing as a perfect role model, Honest Abe would definitely qualify.

The story all begins in Kentucky, where his parents married in 1806. Abe was born on February 12, 1809 (hence Lincoln Day). He had a hard childhood because his brother died in infancy in the year of 1812 and his mom died at the age of thirty-five on October 5, 1818.

Before his presidency, he was a lawyer, and not the best one. He wasn’t a good lawyer because he didn’t like charging people as poor as him. For example, somebody sent him $25, and he returned $10 and said that they were too generous. Another time, he controlled his anger when a candidate running against him called him “Honest Ape.” These are a few of the many qualities that you would want in your role model, right?

Abraham Lincoln was voted president because the people wanted a very superior person for them and their children to look up to. My hero is Honest Abe, and just remember, honesty is only one of my hero’s many great qualities.
