Benjamin Franklin

by Daniella from Wheeling

Benjamin Franklin is my hero because he did a lot of good things to America. Benjamin Franklin was a Founding Father of the United States. He was born on January 17, 1705 and died on April 17, 1790. He had many jobs and he invented many things that help the world. He led everything that he did. He was a very important person in the American history and did great things to make our life easier.

Benjamin Franklin had many jobs. He was good at all and was a leader in them. He became a leading author, printer, satirist, political theorist, politician, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, soldier, and lastly a diplomat. He also published the "Poor Richard's Almanack" and formed the first fire station in Pennsylvania. When he was a scientist, he was interested in Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories with electricity.

As he was an inventor, he invented many useful things. Basically everything he invented was useful. One of the most useful invention we use the most is electricity. He spent a long time when he was a scientist studying it. He got it by flying a kite on a stormy and thundering night. On his kite he tied a metal key to it. His other inventions are the lighting rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, carriage odometer, and the glass harmonica.

Benjamin Franklin had a wealthy life. He married a woman named Deborah Read at age 17. Deborah's mother had declined and Deborah later married John Rodgers. Rodgers had avoided his debts and prosecution by fleeing down to Barbados and her dowry, leaving Deborah behind. Benjamin finally established a common law marriage on September 1, 1730. They had a son Francis who died at age 4 and a daughter, Sarah. He also had a son William, who may have been illegitimate.

In conclusion, as you may know, Benjamin Franklin always did a good deed. He had many jobs and he probably loved being all. He also invented many useful things. He had a wealthy life and had a daughter to take care of him at old age. We all know him as a good person and always a hero to America.
