When you think of a hero, do you think of a world-wide known, daring person? Well Louise Barry was a normal person expecting a normal day, when she was involved in two car bombings. You can find a hero in the most unlikely of people you’ve ever met.
My hero is Louise Barry. She is 32 years old and lives in Australia. She was very unlucky because she was involved in two terrorist bombings in late June. She had expected a normal day in London when she was on her way to work while riding a subway. But then no more than two stops from her house the train exploded. She was a little shaken but unharmed, so she continued on her way.

She now went to work while riding a Double Decker bus. She was sitting in the back of the bottom deck. Almost at her work, another bomb exploded. When it did, she was pinned in between the second deck and the bottom of the first deck. She suffered a broken neck and minor burns. She was in the hospital for three weeks waiting until her neck healed most of the way.
I consider Louise Barry a “Survivor Hero” because, just like in the book A Hero’s Trail by TA Barron, she lived just like a boy named Ben MacDonald. When Ben was six years old, he was wandering out of his house in Southern Canada. A large storm approached swiftly. While on his way home, when he tripped in a hole and twisted his ankle, he found shelter in what he thought was an abandoned whole but it wasn’t. He was about to be attacked by a badger but somehow the badger knew that he was injured and needed help. The badger gave him food and helped him survive until his ankle healed. These two heroes are similar because they were both faced with an extreme hardship. Louise Barry also had to push herself to live.
Now you can think of another type of hero than just a well-known or daring person. I hope you’ve learned that a hero can be found anywhere, including right next door to you. I really hope that you got as much out of this report as I did. I learned to never give up even when the odds of success are slim to not much!
