Rafaela S. Cruz and Rolando B. Cruz

My Hero's name is Rafaela Siman Cruz(Also known as Raquel). Raquel Cruz is my mother. She was born on October 24th, 1967 in the Philippines. First of all, I chose my own mother as my Hero because she gave me life, without her, I would not be here. Plus, she has stuck by my side since I was born. She has been there for me when I needed her the most. She is my role model, without her, I don't think I can be me. She keeps me sane. When I feel like I cannot go on any longer, she picks me up and makes sure I will be all right. I am so comfortable with my mother. I can tell her anything! She's my best friend. She makes me feel so safe and isnt that what a hero should do?

My other hero is my Father. My father's name is Rolando Borja Cruz(Also known as Olan). He was born on December 4th, 1965 in the Philippines. Now he lives in Los Angeles with my mom and I. I chose my dad as my hero because he protects me from harm. He makes me feel secure and when Im with him, I know that nothing can harm me. My father always looks after me. We can talk about anything. When I tell him my problems, he always finds a way to make me smile and I know that everything is going to be all right. My father is so funny and has a good sense of humor so when I have those bad days, he always finds a way to put a little smile on my face by cracking a joke or buying me so Jamba Juice (which is my favorite)! I am able to trust my dad so that makes him a great Hero.

I chose my parents as my heroes because they mean so much to me. I look up to them. Not only are they my heroes but they are also my role models. When I am with my parents, everything just goes great. I feel like nothing can ruin my day. In the dictionary a hero is defined as "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life" --- well I define a hero as my parents!!!
