A teacher who can break her face and break her finger and different times through out the year and still teach is a trooper. ~ Scott Osselton

Dayna Christ- Rowling (Dayna)

Dayna Christ-Rowling was born in St. Catherine’s, Ontario. Dayna started her career as a teacher when she was 27. Dayna has one brother named Tim, a husband named Michael and two kids named Lucas and Abbey. I have only known Dayna for one year, but I know she has an inspiring life. I would like to outline a bit of background, what she does for a job and why she inspires me.

Dayna lived lots of years on Ontario and Saltspring Island and some of the time without running water. She has also lived in other places such as Denmark and Norway. She now lives in Metchosin, British Columbia. One thing that really inspires me about Dayna is she shares her information of life stories, helping us with problems we may have that occur at school.

What really makes Dayna a good teacher is that she sits down and helps us and goes above and beyond what she needs to do to educate us. Dayna makes sure everybody understands the concept of the subjects she teaches. We have always been told to go beyond are expectations by the staff at our school, and Dayna does that all the time. Dayna gives up her own time to go shopping, purchasing healthy food to help us eat properly. The water at our school doesn’t taste the best so Dayna purchases water and water bottles to keep us hydrated.

Dayna makes the classes interesting by including everyone. What I find interesting is that she makes the class entertaining by changing the style of teaching, making everything hands on and including everyone into the activities. Purchasing items that she uses to get us involved. I really appreciate when Dayna books us to go to places to learn and get educated on different stuff that would not see or do on an everyday basis.

I also like how she makes class so interesting by bringing people in from other countries too, doing hip hop dancing. I really love how she is so outgoing. She always wants to work outside during physical education and she also has a great sense of humor to encourage her students. Here at Metchosin Technical Centre we consider her as a teacher / educator but even more as a friend. She is looking out for us, making sure we get home safe or she reminds us about upcoming events or when we are going swimming / skating or other fun activities.
