Deputy Andy

by Joe from New York

D-A-R-E means “Drug Abuse Resistance Education”. Like no one else, Deputy Andy broadened our knowledge about addictive and illegal drugs. He’s of the elite teachers that I’ve had.

If I could characterize Andy in a word, it is “enjoyable.” Deputy Andy played kickball with us during a lesson. Even when he was not playing with us, he told us numerous stories about his life. Enjoyable and Andy go together hand in hand.

Definitively, enjoyable would be the word I would choose if I had to describe Andy in one word. I don’t; another word I would pick is “responsible”. Being a police officer, and teaching the D.A.R.E. program, it’s a responsible career. In addition to that, Andy also has a family, a responsible task on its own. In my opinion, the fifth grade D.A.R.E. mentor, Deputy Andy, is one responsible person, and a fun guy.

Perhaps the choice trait to distinguish Andy is friendly. One of the ways he demonstrated this was by helping us with our D.A.R.E. work. Also doing it by donating “The tools to helping us with our future”. All in all, Deputy Andy is more than just our school's “Drug Abuse Resistance Education” teacher; he is a friend.

Deputy Andy teaches D.A.R.E., and he’s the top at it. As an unknown man once stated, ”You can’t be a hero without taking chances”.
