Elizabeth Walls is a person who touches lives of grade 4-D teaching them. She has her Master’s in Education from Temple University and is a certified reading specialty. “When I was in college I was interested in Educational Psychology,” she says. She has worked 6 years teaching, 3 of them at The Columbus School, helping students accomplish things and learn and grow as people.
Elizabeth has had many good days and bad days on the job. She feels happy at her job when she is in the classroom teaching. She likes kids that have positive attitudes and she likes to learn from them. The worst day of Elizabeth’s career happened when a boy pushed her and he was arrested and expelled from school. “That only made me more determined to be a teacher.”
Elizabeth’s personal heroes are teachers as well. Juan Schillinger, who was a Literacy Coach at Fitzsimons Middle and her teacher mentor, is one. “She taught me how to be a teacher.” Her other hero is her mom “My mother is a principal and she was a teacher her whole life. I learned a lot from her.” Children at the Columbus School are lucky to have such a dedicated teacher on their side.
