Understanding Each Others' Cultures
by Tomorogi Junior High School in Japan and Dudley Intermediate School in Fiji
Painting
Before painting, students from Japan and Fiji exchanged information about their cultures via email and video-conference. The Japanese students painted what people in Fiji most value and the Fiji students painted those things treasured by the Japanese. Both classes experienced a growing feeling of respect for each other as the project was taking place. When the mural was completed, they were filled with great satisfaction.
