Anne Frank vs. Stevie Wonder

by Anish from San Mateo

How would you deal with a life-altering event? Stevie Wonder and Anne Frank both had ways to deal with their tragedies. Anne had to live through a life-altering event. Anne lived during World War II. She and her family, along with four other people, hid in small "secret annex" in a warehouse with one open window. They lived in the annex for two years until they were caught by Nazis. Stevie Wonder’s life-altering event was much more different than Anne’s. He was born blind because his retinas had been detached. When he was four his mom had moved them to Detroit. At age, eleven he and his mom had signed on with a record label and his career had taken off. Many call Stevie a prodigy. Many people have done different things to deal with a life-altering event.

The famous story of Anne Frank has touched over thousands of lives over the world. Anne’s approach was a lot different form Stevie’s. She decided to write in her diary that she referred to as Kitty. As Anne stated in her diary “ordinary people, ordinary girl, teen-ager, like myself, will think I’m a bit cracked with all myself…” (Page 172). She that they only way that she could express herself is through writing in her diary to Kitty and she was able to let her let her live in a very small amount of space. In the end Anne found something that made the a little better. Anne’s story is one that can never be repeated.

While in comparison, Stevie Wonder’s tragedy affected him at a much younger age. Unlike Anne Frank, he couldn’t comprehend what he could not have. For his outlook was different than Anne’s. His outlook was different it was the piano. While his thoughts couldn’t be expressed through the piano, his emotions could be. Thought obviously the big difference between is that one is music and one is writing though because it was music and much easier to become more famous that way. As Stevie Wonder said “The two big advantages I had at birth were to have been born wise and to have born in poverty”. Stevie Wonder thinks that being born in poverty is a good thing while most people would think that would be a big disadvantage. This would show how his life-altering event has affected him.

The very touching story of Anne Frank has made people understand her pain and appreciate all of her pain. Stevie Wonder’s story has given hope to people and made them appreciate his journey to overcome his disability. Their life-altering has made them different people yet has made them both very alike. Both Anne and Stevie felt that their emotions could be shared and shown through an outlook that has helped them survive a life-altering event.

In conclusion, many do lots of things to live with or though a life-altering event. Anne and Stevie prove that with optimism and perseverance that anyone can choose an outlook to live with or through a life-altering event. Both have proven that people do have the means to live with or through a life-alerting event.
