Who is my hero? My hero is my Grandpa, Hank Prins. He lived from October 3, 1931- January 12, 2005. He got skin cancer which spread to other parts of his body then caused a brain tumor which eventually lead to his death. My Grandpa was born in Holland then later moved to Canada. My Grandpa was a very artistic person both in music and the visual arts. He played the alto saxophone, the clarinet, the trumpet, and the piano. Most of his artwork was sculpting or putting old things together, as he was a major pack rat, to make fascinating pieces of art. He also loved to draw and was very talented at it.
My Grandpa is my hero because he is and was my inspiration to get into and to continue on with the arts. When I was little he would teach me things like how to draw a face or how to make a dream catcher, little things like that. Also if I was lucky he would let me play with his instruments. I think if it weren’t for my Grandpa I would have never got into the arts. That is why my Grandpa is my hero, because he taught me never to give up by fighting cancer and because he inspired me into the arts by introducing me to the arts at a young age.
