by Hunter from Barrie

Jordan Eberle was born on May 15, 1990. He is best known as being a Canadian professional ice hockey player, and is a right winger currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Jordan Eberle was drafted 22nd overall in the first round in the NHL entry draft in 2008. He initially played in the Western Hockey League for 4 years as he began his career with the Regina Pats. With the Pats he won the player of the year award in the CHL in 2010, the Doc Seaman Trophy as the scholastic player of the year in 2008 and was a two-time First Team East All-Star in 2008 and 2010. Internationally, Eberle has become an icon for Canadian fans as he competed for Canada in two World Junior Championships, winning gold medal in 2009 as well as a silver medal in 2010.

He was named the best forward as well as the tournament MVP at the 2010 World Junior Championships and is one of team Canada’s top scoring players that has competed in this tournament. Many players of the other international teams at this caliber of an event strive to just make the team and get some playing time. Eberle did this, while also achieving many awards and impressing many NHL scouts. While playing in the World Juniors, Eberle got the chance to showcase his skills on an international level and he proved that he can handle pressure and competition. As a player on the U20 world junior Canada team, this helped him to become well known and recognized which likely helped him obtain success in becoming a member of the NHL, a dream that only few can achieve.

Eberle's most defining moment is a goal in the Semi-finals against the rival Russians that tied the game and sent it to overtime which Canada later won. The goal is still spoken of with awe across the country.
