David challenges Goliath

David is our hero. We chose him because he was brave and a good soldier in the army of Israel. David was the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel. His life is recorded in the Hebrew bible. David made Jerusalem the capital city of Israel and went to live there.

David, the youngest son of Jesse, brought food to his brothers who were with Shaul and he saw the Philistine giant, Goliath. David wanted to fight with Goliath although he was young and small. David defeated Goliath with one stone from his slingshot; the Philistines became afraid of soldiers of Israel and ran away.

The soldiers of Israel won a great victory, David brought the head of Goliath to Shaul. After that Shaul gave his daughter to David and they were married.
