Martin is my hero because he was strong, bold, and courageous. He expressed his true feelings about segregation and the evils of it. Throughout his dangerous life he survived and became the hero he was.

Martin believed that segregation was a horror and unfair. It did not make sense to him, why would people be separated by their appearance? If he didn't do what he did I wouldn't be able to play with best friend Christopher. He was African-American, and this is why Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero.
Martin was born on Sunset Adams Street in Montgomery during 1929. He grew up in segregated Montgomery. Originally his name was Michael Luther King. Martin was born in with a family of four, and he was the youngest. His best friend was a white boy. Martin enjoyed riding bikes, flying kites, and playing football. Jim Crow Laws (laws made to separate whites from blacks) angered Martin and his family. There were many restaurants for whites and few for blacks. His family also despised separate fountains, restrooms, chairs, benches, wages, and life. Martin was very sad when he couldn't be near his best friend in school or at home. Blacks were persecuted beyond belief. Martin showed inspiring bravery in this terrible event.

One day in 1955, a hard-working woman named Rosa Parks sat down on the front of the bus. A white man wanted her out of the seat, but she refused. She was arrested for this act but she felt like a heroine. This lead to a bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1963, in one of Martin Luther King's later marches for desegregation, the Montgomery commissioner sent police in and soaked, shot, and mauled the protesters with guard dogs.

Martin was treated equally at Cozer College. He still was furious with racism. Martin felt that he had to do something about it. Martin believed that segregation was horrible and unfair. It did not make sense to him, why would people be separated by there appearance. In 1962 Martin lead the civil rights movement. He worked with Rosa Parks during this event. He spoke the "I Have a Dream Speech." Martin touched the hearts of mostly everyone. Martin won the Nobel Peace Prize for his strength. James Earl Ray assassinated him at a Tennessee motel. This happened when he was 36. He gave up a lot for peace, a lot as in his life.
