My hero is TJ Mathis. He attends Mercy Hurst college. T.J is my hero because of the things he does. He's a good example to keep me on the right track. I would like to walk in his shoes and attempt the things that he did or tried to do. If people met him they would see what kind of kid he is, what a good person he is.

T.J. Mathis was born in New Haven Connecticut in 1986. He really started playing basketball when he was a young boy playing rec. ball. He went to Hamden high school for 4 years. He was named team MVP. And he won the title 3 years in a row, and was named all-conference, all area, all division 3 times. He got a full scholarship to Morgan State collage. Since the number one player in Connecticut was there, T.J. did not like it there and left to go to MercyHurst. Now T.J is a Junior.

The different he made to society has been giving kids someone to look up to, someone's footsteps to follow. The struggles that he went through were that he had to balance his grades and take care of his newborn son and play basketball at the same time.

The accomplishment my hero has done are, he got a scholarship to a Division 1 black school, he helps out in the community and he got awards in high school for always being a good student and a good team player.

This person's heroic characteristics are staying on task and always staying focused, no matter what. T.J. Mathis never quits and he keep getting further and further in life. That is what I admire about my hero, T.J Mathis. He's one of the people that can make a difference in the world.
