My hero is David Anerico Ortiz or "Big Papi." He is a baseball player for the Boston Red Sox. David Ortiz was born on September 18, 1975 in the Dominican Republic. He is six-foot four and weighs 255 pounds. In 2006 he was in the World Baseball Classic. Ortiz is my hero for many reasons. I like him because he plays for the Red Sox and because he has gone to two World Series and won. I think he is a very good hitter.

He has over 200 home runs and his batting average for 9 years is 282. Last year he hit 53 home runs. I think he is the walk-off king.

David Ortiz started with the Minnesota Twins. He got 20 home runs and got 400 at bats. He had a low average and a low career point. He ended with the Twins in 2002.

Ortiz started with the Red Sox in early 2003. He always gets a hit or home run at the best time. In his first year in Boston, David Ortiz hit 31 home runs in 450 at bats. In the 2004 final playoffs he hit a home run and won the Red Sox the division series.

David Ortiz is my hero because he is on the Red Sox and because he is a very good hitter. Another reason is he won a World Series.
