Phillis Wheatley

Introduction

Phillis Wheatley was born on 1753. She died on December 5, 1784. She was named after a slave ship. A tailor bought her. She was like a maid and a child to the Wheatleys.

Childhood

Phillis Wheatley had the courage to write. Her sister fell in love with her. Her sister's name was Mary. Mary taught everything she learned to Phillis. Phillis got asthma, which once nearly killed her. She grew up and became an adult.

Adulthood

Phillis became a social sensation. What is a social sensation? A popular women or man. Her friends wanted her to present a poem to King George III. She wrote a lot of poetry. What age did she start poetry anyway? When she was12 she began to make up her own poetry.

Why famous or hero?

Was Phillis Wheatley a hero, famous, or both? She was a hero. She had the courage to read and write. She had  a lot of noble character. My opinion about her is that she is very brave and has sweet character. And she was brave enough to help the Colonists defeat the British. Now that's brave!!!
