| My 4th grade teacher in the reading area. |
Heroes aren’t people that are so famous that stardom gets to their heads. Heroes aren’t people that completely change for fame or to be in the spotlight. Heroes are people that you admire for the accomplishments they have made. My hero is my 4th grade teacher, Rebecca McClure.
Mrs. McClure got on a plane and flew from Connecticut to Austin in July of 2007 to teach Trinity 4th graders. She was born on March 9th. She has one older sister who still lives in her native country, England. Rebecca McClure was married on July 19th to Kevin McClure. She has one child named Maggie who is three years old. She was an interior designer before she became a teacher. When I asked Mrs. McClure why she became a teacher, she replied, “After working as an interior designer for a while, I became aware that my true calling was to work with children. Children have always been an inspiration to me, and I have never tired of their honesty and sense of wonderment in the world around them. They give me fresh eyes to see things in a different way. I still feel like a kid at heart, and being around “young blood” keeps me feeling young. The best part about my job is seeing the light bulb go on when students start to understand something that was unclear or confusing. This still gives me the goose bumps, even after teaching for so long!”
Rebecca McClure is my hero because she has patience. I remember when I say “I don’t get it.” She keeps explaining it to me. No matter how many times I say it, she keeps explaining. She has inspired me to learn in ways I never imagined. She has taught me to dream, to try, to fail, and be yourself along with the basics, harder reading, complex writing, more social studies, a lot of spelling, mapping, and learning circles around the world.
Mrs. McClure is the teacher extravaganza, the top teacher of the world. My 4th grade teacher, Rebecca McClure is my hero, and I respect that. She has inspired one class to dream.
