| Rosa Parks |
To stand up for what you believe in is a hard thing to do, especially when many people disagree with you. Rosa Parks was a woman who was determined to help black people have equal rights. She is an inspiring woman that took a stand and made a huge difference in the world we live in today. Rosa did not really care what would happen to her when she sat at the front of the bus, but one thing she did care about was making a difference and she did just that.
My hero is Rosa Parks. She is an amazing woman that many people look up to as a hero. She was born on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. As a child Rosa grew up with her mother and grandparents on their farm. When she was older she met Raymond Parks. Raymond and Rosa married in 1932. He was involved with the group NAACP, and wanted Rosa to finish her high school education. This was important because of all of the harsh laws forbidding blacks to finish their education. In 1943, they became very involved with the Civil Rights Movement. Little did Rosa know that she would change the world in a few years.

One reason I look up to her is because she was just an ordinary woman that took a stand and made a big difference in many people’s lives. One day Rosa Parks was tired of not being treated fairly by the bus drivers. So she decided to sit in the front of the bus where no other black people were allowed. The bus driver told her to go to the back of the bus, but she refused so he called the police. The police came and arrested her. After her time in jail, her husband picked her up and took her home. Because of what happened to Rosa, people decided to boycott riding the buses. This caused a great loss of money to the bus companies. They could not afford to run, and this stirred up some turmoil. The laws were changed that year stating that black and white people could sit wherever they wanted on the bus. It also included the new law that bus drivers had to treat black people with respect also.
Even though Rosa Parks had to go through the misery of being sent to jail, she stood up for what she believed in and changed my life and many others.
