Red Rum

A hero is someone who is courageous, brave and has lots of inner strength and has a true talent. My hero is Red Rum because he has won a lot of races and is a worldwide famous racehorse and I love horses.

Red Rum is a Bay Gelding and is a steeple Chaser. Red Rum was born 3rd May 1965 in Ireland.

In the entire beautiful bay's career he has earned $146,409.80, Personally I think that is a lot of money. One of his major victories is that at the 1973 Grand National, Red Rum beat the Australian Chaser Crisp carrying 23 pound more, in what was a new record time of 9 minutes and 1.9 seconds.

Red Rum's breeder was Martyn McEnery and his trainer was Ginger McCain. "The famous racehorse suffered from a hair line fracture the day before the 1978 race and subsequently retired." (wikipedia)

Red Rum sadly passed away on the 18th of October 1995 at the age of thirty. Did you know that Red Rum's name spelt backwards is murder? I think that Red Rum is a beautiful horse and was very successful in his career.
